The Static — If These Walls Could Talk

This is one of those pieces that's a little deceptive. You don't see the countless power failures and production delays and our sad little attempt to throw a can of paint against a wall that barely made it to the mural. Sometimes I think the goal of good production work is to just hide the flaws.

That said, The Static can kill. They believe absolutely in their music, and deliver it in every moment. They have huge choruses, driving beats, and more hooks than a tacklebox.

In producing their music video, more than anything we wanted their energy to translate on screen. At one point, we placed our tripods on pieces of plywood suspended above the floor, and when the band stomped and the kick drum hit, each beat translated into the camera. The result is the tremors that come in towards the end of the piece, done practically, rather than in post.

China balls are your best friend when you've got crappy circuits.
